A family session, sand surf and cotton candy
I have been photography their family since the kids were babies so I was so excited when she called to schedule a session. We chatted on the phone and decided that we would do their session at the beach. It had been two years since we had done family photos and the twins are almost three. The beach felt like a place where everyone would be relaxed. Mom had her heart set on one “perfect family photo” so I of course reminded her that the best way to get “perfect” was to drop every. single. expectation. Kids are like dogs; they smell fear and expectations, I swear. They showed up and piled out of the mini van. All four kids gave me welcome hugs and smiles, which of course melted my heart. They changed on the sidewalk and not naming any names, but one of the girls forgot to wear underwear which I found so hilarious and something my own girl would do. After everyone was dressed and ready to go, we headed down to the beach. The weather was so nice. The first days of cooler weather in the fall are almost euphoric and it was such a wonderful way of kicking off my favorite time of year in Florida. The kids ran and jumped and swam and ate way too much cotton candy as the sun set. It could not have been a more perfect day.
